HOW DO FAT DISSOLVING INJECTIONS WORK?
Fat dissolving injection can be used on most areas of the body, with the most popular being the chin, upper arms, waist, hips, inner thighs and buttocks. It is a non-surgical way of body shaping using a gel based solution which is injected into areas of unwanted, difficult to shift pockets of fat. Fat dissolving injections are not intended for weight loss, but rather for those with localised fat tissue which is not responding to a healthy diet or increased physical exercise to improve the contour of the body by removing stubborn areas of fat.

Fat dissolving liquid is injected directly into the fat tissue. Most patients report discomfort levels of 4-6 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being severe). The solution is mixed with a local anaesthetic to keep any discomfort to an absolute minimum while we are dissolving away the stubborn areas of fat. After dissolution of the targeted fat cells, the body expels the fatty acids naturally through the urine.
Following treatment, you will experience swelling and redness in the area where the fat has been dissolved for a few weeks. This starts to settle after a few days and is normally gone in 3-4 weeks. You may have some discomfort, but this is not usually severe. A little bruising is expected. You should not exercise for 5 days and some patients find mild compression clothing helps for non-facial treatment areas. A low-fat diet can help to increase the effectiveness of the fat dissolving injections.
While results can’t be compared to surgical liposuction, where large amounts of fat are permanently removed from the body, The treatment takes time to reach its full effect but results can last for years with factors such as diet and lifestyle as other factors that influence results. As with all medical therapies there is no guarantee of fully successful treatment. Some patients get good results from a single treatment, but many required 3-4 treatments for facial areas. Up to 8 sessions are required for body areas. The recommended interval between repeat treatment is 4-6 weeks.
